Solidarity Fund

About the Fund

The Solidarity Fund is the Africa Climate Justice Movement’s rapid response and mutual aid mechanism. It exists to resource frontline communities quickly and directly when urgent need arises from climate disasters.

This is not charity, it is response: a recognition that movements across Africa often face crises with little or no access to emergency resources. The Fund ensures that activists and grassroots groups are not left to face them alone.

Why the Fund Matters

The Solidarity Fund allows ACJM to respond in real time, putting resources where they are needed most.

Rising Climate Emergencies

African communities face devastating floods, droughts, cyclones, and heatwaves. Women and girls are disproportionately impacted, often with increased risks to safety and livelihoods.

Movements Face Risks

Grassroots organizations challenging powerful interests can experience backlash, threats, or sudden financial shocks. The fund provides them with safety and security needs.

Opportunities Cannot Wait

Sometimes, moments for strategic action appear unexpectedly; whether a key policy window or a breakthrough organizing effort. Without immediate resources, these opportunities are lost.
