The African Climate Justice Movement (ACJM) is pleased to invite applications from partners across Africa.
WHO WE ARE: The Africa Climate Justice Movement (ACJM) aims to promote gender, climate, and environmental justice in Africa, with the vision of becoming a vibrant feminist collective that champions gender, climate, and environmental justice. The movement members and actor organizations are African eco-feminists, activists, advocates, girl and Youth-led, women-led grassroots organizations, and movements focused on promoting and amplifying a collective voice and approach to identifying needs and solutions to climate challenges.
The Movement was conceived in 2022 and fully formed at the Regional Convening, which took place in Accra from October 31 to November 2, 2023. The movement approach is expected to increase access to resources and capacity building for movement actors, and collectives, learning to achieve their goals and contribute to shifting power to the actors for transformation within the climate arena. Since inception the movement has published four grant calls and given out 63 grants to organizations across the African continent.
ABOUT THIS GRANT CALL : With this background, we invite groups/collectives from priority countries listed below to express interest to apply for up to USD 20,000 per year over a three-year period to support their work on climate justice and rights in Africa. We are interested in hearing from partners and actors within this space in Africa, particularly small organizations that have never received funding and have a budget of less than $50,000 USD, particularly organizations under-represented within ACJM’s grantmaking portfolio. We will also consider expression of interests from coalitions/collectives with an annual budget of less than 50,000 USD.
WE INVITE EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FROM: (1)Young Feminist/Girl-led/Youth-led/Women-led organizations (2) Small and young organizations that are 5years old and below (3)Young Organizations that Have Never Been Funded (4)Unregistered and registered groups/collectives in the African Continent (5)Organizations that have 75% Women in Leadership & Decision-making (6)Groups that prioritize Women and work at the intersection of gender, climate & environmental justice (7)Organizations whose work align with ACJM principles and priority thematic areas (8)Groups with yearly budgets under 50,000 USD.
PRIORITY WILL BE GIVEN TO: (1)Organizations that are less than three (3) Years in Existence (2)Groups working With Women and Girls with Disability/Disabilities (3)Groups in countries/regions under-represented within the ACJM’s Grantmaking Portfolio.
ELIGIBLE COUNTRIES : Algeria, Angola, Republic of Benin, Burundi, Cabo Verde, Chad, Djibouti, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Eswatini (formerly Swaziland), Gabon, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Libya, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Seychelles, Somalia, South Sudan, and Sudan.

A participatory panel of ACJM committee members will review all applications and notify applicants of the outcome. Successful applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal and budget. We anticipate awarding grants to successful organizations by October 15th, 2026, and providing feedback to unsuccessful applicants on or before that date.
